Started in 2001, the .NAME generic domain name extension is the sole TLD supposed to be for personal web pages only. These domains can consist of personal or fictional names, aliases and/or other titles people are known by. Initially, solely 3rd-level registrations were possible, so if you planned to reserve john.doe.name, you had to do that under .doe.name. In 2004, however, the registration procedures were loosened and 2nd-level registrations were also permitted. Already grabbed 3rd-level names remained working.

You will be able to update the WHOIS contact info, to park your domain, to modify Custom DNS records, etc. You can also move over an already registered domain to our firm if you take its EPP transfer key from the present registrar company and we will renew it after the transfer has been done. There are no specific terms on who can book a .NAME domain name, but in order to preserve the idea behind its creation alive, the .NAME Registry organization may check who the owner is and if there is no connection between the owner and the actual domain name, the registration can be challenged.
