Access Log Manager
What's the objective of the Access Log Manager? What kind of information will it provide?
An access log is a detailed list of all the files which were accessed by the visitors of a particular Internet site. Every single file which was requested for whatever reason will be listed, so if you have one page with three embedded pictures, one video and one embedded text file, as an illustration, the access log will contain a total of 6 entries - one for any of the six files which were accessed when the website visitor opened the webpage. A log normally contains the file name and path, the date, along with the visitor’s OS, browser and IP address. Occasionally you may also find the referrer websites that sent the visitors to your site. The information which an access log file includes is in human-readable plain text format. It may be processed by special software on a laptop or computer and used to prepare reports on the efficiency of a site, in addition to the web stats that your server may have produced.
Access Log Manager in Shared Website Hosting
Our in-house built Hepsia CP has a section focused on various logs and the access logs are one of them. When you sign in to your shared website hosting account and visit this section, you will find a list of all the domains and subdomains you have. All it takes to allow the generation of access logs is to press a button which will be available next to each domain/subdomain. In case the option is active, you will see a download link as well as the file size so far, so you'll be able to save the file to your personal computer and view it or process it with some app. Enabling or disabling the logs takes effect instantly, so if you don't require one, you'll be able to stop it with simply a mouse click from the same exact section of the Control Panel. You'll still be able to access the already developed content by simply clicking on the Download link.
